this man was a great man, a great speaker, and a great help for the black people in the US, and across the world... and any man, women, or child who oppose, and say othervise, should read a book... read a book about one of the men that may have changed history more than any other man...

you know what, Martin Luther King Jr was just a person, just human, he was like us all. maybe he wasnt the same color as you and me, but we are all humans, and that is enough. he was brave enough to stand up not only against 1 nation, but most nations around the world. he made a statement, and he was a major part of this world. there are still problems but he made things better. he is a inspiration to me and many other people. we need a new person though, like MLK to finish what MLK started.....

Yes, I am aware of this. I read "Team Of Rivals" by Doris Kearns Goodwin. He was a brilliant and pragmatic politician, but also a great man. Another example of political pragmatist and great man I hope Obama follows in the footsteps of would be Bobby Kennedy.

There are some interesting parallels btwn Lincoln and Obama. In private, Lincoln was said to be colour-blind, but if you read some of his speeches and documents, he adopted some very pragmatic (and what to us would sound really racist) positions, for example on miscegenation. Obama is also highly pragmatic - he knows he has to be, dealing with some of the dumber elements of the American public.
