It's sad that even after so long few can look at this clip and take in the horror without pointing fingers and spewing hate and racism at EITHER side.

I wish the US hadn't used the bomb on anyone, but it wasn't the responsibility of the US to warn Japan's people of anything; they were in peril throughout the war because of the actions (and inactions) of their OWN EMPEROR and his criminal government, period. The torture, misery and wanton murder Japan inflicted on MILLIONS of their neighbors (including many times the innocent women and children killed in Hiroshima and Nagasaki!) during the 30's/40's led to this, THEIR karma, the a-bomb.

The way I like to think of it is that the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were an unnecessary evil, but an evil that seemed like a good idea at the time.

The Potsdam Declaration:On July 26, Truman and other allied leaders issued The Potsdam Declaration outlining terms of surrender for Japan. It was presented as an ultimatum and stated that without a surrender, the Allies would attack Japan, resulting in "the inevitable and complete destruction of the Japanese armed forces and just as inevitably the utter devastation of the Japanese homeland."Can't say we didn't warn you. =P |
