Gary Stevens was one of the best jockeys in the 1990's along with Jerry Bailey...man, those guys could ride.

I don't think he really like the track at pimlico. I think that's what cost hom the Triple Crown, because he was clearly a better horse than Timber Country, Lukas's horse that won the Preakness that year.

i think thunder gulch could have won the triple crown if accelerated in the preakness cause he had a clean trip in the preakness. first time i heard it from johnson only heard the call from mike bataglia on kentucky derby . com

This has to be one of the most impressive Derby winners of the past 20 years. This horse stalked very fast fractions while busting from post 16 and had lots left in the stretch when cloud closers were attempting to get at him. Very nice horse and great Derby run.
