I agree, Diana was the epitome of warmth and kindness that could set nearly any guest at ease. I think she is completely fascinated by Bowie (and Iggy, too, when they appeared on the show together). Who could not be fascinated by him(them)?

I saa this clip about hunderd times...in one year! Bet Bowie was so coked out that he does not remember this performance. But it's magic, Bowie's best version of Five Years ever!

So strange to see this video. I was 14, when I watched this, and still remember it. I recorded it to cassette tape with a mic. This was some time near the 4th of July. I had fire crackers popping in my recording, from outside. Do you know the date? Thanks for sharing.

This is magnificent - a Ziggy song played with the cool, soulish band of Young Americans.

I love thinking about Bowie on one of those family friendly shows blasted to outer space on drugs.

interesting point. have you seen the clip of bowie and iggy pop on dinah shore? that must have been an uncomfortable interview. still, agreed, a treat to hear this.

i thought the quality was actually pretty good for being filmed off TV

the end of our world as seen through Bowie's eyes....

Dinah Shore is so good at showcasing her guests. You all have to watch other Dinah Shore clips to see how to deal politely with people you probably never want to see again! This video is a rare treat to hear but lousy to see. David Bowie, just singing with a band. No fireworks, no lights, just a great presence. |
