Oh man! If I've got my camera in hand, it usualy hits the floor when I see a wreck about to happen, but usually, the wreck happens when you're not looking!

yeah, derailments suck. I've had my share, both at home and on a club layout...they are especially bad when a fast moving amtrak hits an already derailed UP freight that tipped over onto your path. Wish I had video of that one.
