If you want to play sax, just play sax. Only start on clarinet if you really want to play both clari & sax. It depends a little bit on whether you want to play mainly classical or jazz, but yeah, follow your heart @ the rest will follow.

I'm just an occasional player. I play the sax just to keep me out from feeling bored.I'm gonna get me a new alto sax. YAMAHA YAS62 mark ii.

Learning clarinet will create a discipline in your embouchure, and the fingering registers will help you appreciate the ease of saxophone.Saxophone has a less strict embouchure, so I would suggest learning to play clarinet first. |
