Caracalla was the eldest son of Septimius Severus and ROMAN EMPEROR from 211 217.He was one of the most nefarious of Roman emperors.Caracalla's reign was notable for granting Roman citizenship to freemen throughout the Roman Empire, in order to increase taxation, debasing the silver content in Roman coinage by 25 percent in order to pay the legions and the construction of a large thermae outside Rome, known as the BATHS OF CARACALLA, can still be seen today as in this video.

When I was in Rome I visited the ruins of this magnificent Baths....so impressive...so great....I love this place.Itis very inspiring. And somethere in the back of my head I felt if as I had been there before ...back in the days when the baths were still in use...I had very strong imaginations of how this complex once must have looked...I love the Baths of Caracalla... |
