God Bless you and here's the best to your wife. Yeah, life has many twists and turns, just hope things go well for you. My graduating class was 1967(Newfoundland, Canada). We had a high school reunion in 1993 as our school was only a designated high school from 1962-72. Except the weekend I got married and the birth of our three girls and now 4 grandchildren, that weekend was the best of my life.

I graduated HS in small town NJ in 1956.I lived on Cherry St, not Maple. So did she.We dated and went steady. Then life happened.I had 1 child and she had 2.I saw her only very occasionally. Finally I returned for one of the HS reunions. The 50th.We met.She is a widow.i still have my wife, but she has dementia. We both agreed that we should just leave those Cherry St Memories live in our minds. Those were wonderful days. Thanks guys. It's a great song that brings back great memories.

I've always loved the Statler Brothers . They've never done a song that wasn't first rate. I have most of their albums. Still get them out sometimes.

I think that there was a certain romance of the 1950s, both musically and culturally. Some of it was nice. But there were certain things from that era I wouldn't want to see return, such as the rigid social and political order which is IMO why we saw the uprisings in subsequent decades. Criticisms aside, I do like this song and video and understand why it would trigger an emotional response. |
