I ordered it from the invertersRus website. It cost me about $140 at the time I bought it. It works pretty well but does buzz a little bit if you put a lot of load on it.

Thats an aims 300 watt pure sine wave inverter right? Do you like it? Does it work good? I am thinking about getting one, would you recommend it?

why not just use the inverter for everything and not use the 12V car plugs.

I know how the electrical system in a Recreation Vehicle is set up and in fact, those deep cycle batteries are house batteries from my neighbor's motor home.

If you really want to see a full scale 12v renewable system in action, go check out an RV as all lighting is 12v in most and most have inverters for alot of the 120v systems. Solar panels, inverter/chargers, generators, and of course alternators to charge the batteries. Some very high end units will even run roof air conditioning off of the inverters. But this is definitely a good start to learning about 12v uses. It's cool to be the only one with lights on in a power outage.

That was what I ended up using but you want to watch it carefully. Gel cells shouldn't go above 13.8 volts. Most car chargers will charge to about 14.4 volts but this may be too much for a gel cell from what I've read. |
