Does anybody have EmmyLou's duet, WE BELIEVE IN HAPPY ENDINGS? It's nowhere on Youtube.

every once in awhile I hear a song for the first time and just think, "wow." Well, this is the first time I ever heard this (after reading about her on wikipedia), and, all there is to say is, "wow." I can't believe how many music stories out there I've never heard, how many great songs i've never heard.

"I've come to listen for the sound,Of the trucks, as they move down,Out on 95...And pretend that it's the sound,Of the ocean, coming down,To wash me clean, wash me clean,Baby, do you know what I mean?"Great lyrics to one of the most beautiful, poignant songs of all time, sung by one of the most beautiful singers of all time. Oh, Emmylou, I remember when Gram Parsons died, way back in '73. I'm glad you never lost the feeling, even if you did lose the man.

" Where most country stars tend to be singer-songwriters or song interpreters, Emmylou Harris has become a legend by being both "- Acoustic Guitar - Feb. 08.

This is just so emotion-laden (great lyrics too) I think she holds back just a little here, compared to the recorded version. Understandable - it's like taking someone very close off a life support machine.

Norways new country star Ida Jenshus gave a stunning version of this song in the final when she won the talent competition "Sound of Saturday" on Norwegian TV on Dec 1st 2007. And to see Emmylou doing it in 1977 is just awesome!

"And the hardest part is knowing I'll survive." 30 years on and it still tears me up every time I hear that line. Hers is the voice from heaven, that's for sure. That's the great Rodney Crowell in the green shirt. Thanks, Emmylou. |
