Don't sell that guy short, cowpoke. He had a nice lyrical style of playing and composed some great songs. He just wasn't so much into showing off with self-indulgent guitar masturbation like most of the guys who are heralded as guitar gods.

They kinda just came together. George Harrison was going to record some songs with Jeff Lynne at Bob Dylan's place. Tom Petty had Harrison's guitar at his house. It was all a coincidence. Check out the video about the History of the Traveling Wilburys. It's pretty cool.
