That doesn´t matter if ancient macedonians weren´t slavs but they were macedonians. And now on that land live slavic macedonians it's their land you can´t take it 'cause it isn´t yours. So leave macedonia to be in Eu and NATO their deserve it. I think greece don´t deserve to be in EU.

Obviously a political orator, the leader of Anti-Macedonian Athenean party doesn't constitute anything near an unbiased source but on the contrary an extremely biased thus non-credible source if we keep in mind Demosthenes was even tried for taking "Persian gold" to oppose as much he could Macedonian Hegemony. It was already demonstrated the slanders between political orators as the example of Aeschines, who called Demosthenes himself a Barbarian.

Macedonia became a world power when the Macedonian king Philip II conquered Thrace, greater part of Illyria, and the whole of Greece (except Sparta). At the battle of Chaeronea in 338, the Macedonian army destroyed the united Greek army, and put an end to Greek freedom and ancient Greek history. To secure the Macedonian conquest, Macedonian garrisons were established in the Greek cities, just like they were established in Thrace and Illyria.

you, the slavs living in part of macedonia did not exist then. ancient macedonians on the other hand were accepted as all other greeks since they participated in the olympic games, they spoke & wrote in Greek, they worshiped the GREEK gods, they had Greek customs and traditions, greek names and when ALEXANDER conquered the world he spread GREEK CULTURE!! if he had a separate "macedonian" culture, he would be stupid not to spead that instead!! of course he did not since he was GREEK!!

well, all of this is contested mind you, alexander was macadonian by most pplz opionions but it is still contested today
