I disagree when you say hanging with him was a life of sin. That's totally wrong. He saw her for who she really was, and then she destroyed herself by changing who she was, aka trying a life of sin. Ive listened and checked out the lyrics - its about a rich girl who was spoiled and cold. she was a waste of his time. parachute is a trust fund. hanging with him was a life of sin. velvet glove means not touching with heart and feeling. she was not loved and a child and so cannot really love though he loved her. sad.
