True prosperity is intimacy of relationship with Christ not wealth. God delights in us growing in holiness not in cash. The definition of prosperity has been twisted to this heretical doctrine by rich evangelists. And those who support these false teachers share in the fruit of judgement. The New Testament was written to refute false doctrines in the early church and we are responsible to do the same. Sadly, too many are seduced by the showmanship, too lazy, or too cowardly to confront the lies.

Thank you John Piper for taking a stand against the way of the world. The prosperity gospel is causing so much damage in Africa where I saw first hand pastors abusing Gods words for their own power and prosperity gains. It is a sad sad thing to see the missuse of the bible and of Gods beautiful truths. I pray people may see the destructions of such false claims and the pain they are causing to the most needy of the world.

I believe the prosperity gospel is full of error, but to say that God wants us poor, sick and gets glory from a dead child is a gross misuse of the word of God and denying the power within. I personally find this video sick

hi dave, Jesus said that to one man, not everyone. God loves the cheerful giver, not one who gives reluctantly or out of compulsion.Look at acts 5:4, Paul told Ananias that his property was his to sell or not sell. It is greedy ministers and those who misuse the bible who give christianity a bad name. Dont be caught up with them brother.

Wake up!! love is currency- We do not need money only the service of one another to replace money. We do things for free and in the circle of giving of yourself and one another everyone is provided for. Love is the golden rule within rational limits. If your not sinning you are existing within the character of love. I think the bible supports that definition gonkey donkey.

Also one thing Piper is saying is wrong...the Bible says "GOD delights in the prosperity of HIS servant"...and the "suffering for CHRIST" bit sounds like a legalistic take to make him feel good because he "suffered"...we are saved and sanctified by the sinless Blood of CHRIST...not by our works of "suffering"
