Theres no danger in it. But if they do that theyll never reach the water underneath all of it. The whole point of the mission is to study water, not frozen carbon dioxide. If they land on the carbon, they wont be able to dig deep enough to reach the water. The carbon is many meters thick.

Auslander999, they dont land directly on the ice caps because theres too much frozen carbon dioxide. Water is below it. Way below it. Where the ice caps stop and the ground is dirt is where the carbon dioxide stops freezing and turns to gas (Sublimation, or melting from solid to gas with no liquid state) and so under the soil water should be close. There will still be a little frozen carbon dioxide under the dirt but not much.

no im not! all of you people are blind, the goverment doesn't whant to tell you the true, becuase of religious, cultural, and social reasons! there is life on the universe million of civilizations! there is in fact even life on mars, an atmosphere! and in the moon, the US govermnet, Europeans ect have already installed bases long time ago! open your eyes,!
