Blackmore used finger picking on this song, which adds a whole new depth to it, but he also did it at the faster tempo with the single picking method. Either way, I love it.

If you check old rainbow performances Richie sometimes played this song at this tempo i thought ever faster but personally i think rainbow are way better than any cover dio does from the old rainbow days, but im really glad he still does !!!!

Heavy Metal just can't be any better than that! Ritchie Blackmore forever !!!!!

You're right. This version is way too fast. I do think that the way Ritchie plays that this live version would have been played in as you so eloquently put it, "hypnotic slow groove".

Dio rules. You talk sh!t.

Ronnie talks too much in concert, sounds like some cheezy gym teacher. And he has about 3 stage moves in constant repetition.

Totally agree ronoman88. Any live version of any song of any band should always try to stay as close to the original version as the studio cut (especially the tempo of a song). It's true, Blackmore's Rainbow 1975 release had a driving, powerfully hypnotic slow groove that just flowed with rhythm and strength! Ritchie gave Dio his spotlight big break in the business.
