It's been years since I saw this movie. It looks like they control the robots with Wiimote nunchucks! :)

Actually the speed in here is fairly realistic. According to the square cube law, a real mecha like the ones you see here would be insanely heavy, and thus slow. That's why the entire concept of mecha is nonsensical from a military point of view, but it is entertaining.

At the end... Smart move. Really. I bet you put a lot of thought into that one, you dumb shit.

That's just what you've gotta love about classic old action movies like this, there's no thinking involved, just plenty of blood and testosterone flying around, and maybe a titty here, an ass there. It's a movie that you needn't use your head in order to enjoy.

These mechs remind me so much of Battletech / mechwarrior.

Come ON, you trying to tell me you wouldn't want to see this as opposed to the current political model? LOL
DOBBSA87 (October 12, 2008 at 9:41 pm)
Ahaha! That's sweeeeet. Instead of getting smashed a bit with a rocket-fist, the all get smooshed by a falling robot! XD

Maybe it was one way glass. Dude they have rocket powered fists in this movie I really don't think they were trying to be scientifically accurate. Besides a real mecha battle would be much more fast paced and the pilots would be sitting down so they don't lose control whenever the the mech falls over. This is just hollywood crap. Obviously armies wouldn't use giant bipedal robots in battle, but it could be a sport in the future. With A LOT more safety though. |
