Part 3 of 3Look, the people who didn't like Obama to begin with whether they truly are bitter or not are going to be pissed off to hear him talk about their issues. I'm not from PA but our economy in Michigan has gone to hell and I know a whole lot of people who are bitter when it comes to politics. When it comes to politicians, people feel the are all the same when saying they are going to make the economy better. Instead of issues like the economy we put more importance on the issues that are close to us...like religion, immigration, right to bare arms...and so on.I think he is dead on and many people just like me who don't already have some preconceived reason to hate Barack Obama feel the same way. Here is the text of the letter:Dear Fellow Pennsylvanian,We live in small towns and rural areas throughout Pennsylvania and we support Barack Obama for President. A few days ago, Sen. Obama made some comments that his opponents are now using to make him appear as if he is something he is not. Instead of speaking to us honestly about how they intend to solve the problems we are facing, they are playing the same old Washington games that accomplish nothing. What Sen. Obama said is that over the last 25-30 years, working class people in places like Pennsylvania have been falling behind, and that politicians in Washington haven't been looking out for them. He also said that, as a result, many people have become frustrated, angry and even bitter about all the broken promises. He was right. The politicians who are now saying that we shouldn't be frustrated are the ones who are out of touch.People in the towns and communities we live in have seen their jobs shipped overseas. We've seen our pensions disappear. We've seen our health care costs skyrocket. We've seen everything from the cost of gasoline to a gallon of milk go through the roof. As our families have struggled to make ends meet and our communities fought to stay intact, how has Washington responded? By giving tax breaks to the wealthy, rewarding corporations who ship jobs overseas, and turning the levers of power over to the lobbyists and special interests. It's easy to feel a little frustrated when you see these Washington politicians continue to ignore you. But it's not the only emotion we feel. When someone comes along who is untainted by the system in Washington, who doesn't take money from federal lobbyists or special interests and who promises that things can be different, we feel something else—hope. That's why we're supporting Barack Obama. Others have come along and promised change, but failed to deliver. Sen. Obama is different than the rest. He doesn't take money from the special interests, and he speaks honestly about the issues we are facing. In addition to supporting his plans for jobs, health care and education, we believe that he can deliver on his promises to ensure economic opportunity for family farmers, to provide support for rural economic development, to promote renewable energy in rural America, to protect the rights of hunters and other law-abiding Americans to purchase, own, transport, and use guns for the purposes of hunting and target shooting, and to preserve open land for hunting and fishing.Unlike his opponents who have been part of the Washington establishment for decades, Barack Obama understands the struggles we are going through. We welcomed him with open arms as he made his way through small towns and rural areas on his recent bus tour across the state. And we will work day and night from now until the primary on his behalf not only because he has heard our frustrations, but because he speaks to our hope that Washington can actually work for people like us.Sincerely,Ted Alter, State CollegeWestmoreland County Commissioner Tom Bayla, GreensburgMayor John Brenner, YorkLloyd Casey, West Chester -- President, Pennsylvania Forestry AssociationMayor John Fetterman, BraddockMayor Rick Gray, LancasterScott Harrison, Warriors MarkState Representative Bryan Lentz, SwarthmoreState Senator Sean Logan, MonroevilleCarl Majji, Claysville -- Corporal, U.S. ArmyMayor Thomas McMahon, ReadingState Senator Bob Mellow -- Pennsylvania Senate Democratic LeaderU.S. Representative Patrick Murphy, Doylestown -- U.S. Congressman (PA-08)Perry County Commissioner Steve Naylor, New BloomfieldLackawanna County Commissioner Corey O'Brien, DunmoreFran Rodriquez, LancasterState Representative Josh Shapiro, Abington -- Deputy Speaker, Pennsylvania House of RepresentativesMajor General Walter Stewart, Berks County -- Former Commander, 28th Infantry Division, Pennsylvania Army National GuardState Representative Dan Surra, St. MarysState Representative Thomas Tangretti, GreensburgLackawanna County Commissioner Michael Washo, Scranton

I'm from Pennsylvania, my town (middletown; pretty much a suburb to Harrisburg and next to Steelton) and and family are all primarily conservative republicans. I can PERSONALLY attest to what Obama said. Moreso, most of the people I know *agree* with the statement. The only ones who seem enraged by it are the news media and rich would-be philosopher with nothing better to do than sling around buzzwords. This 'celebrity' shit now is the same BS in a different wrapper.

Here in Denver, tickets to Obama's acceptance speech are being sold for a 1000 bucks a shot on a secret link on his website, at least they were until a local news station busted the story open. 1,000 bucks a shot for a ticket to INVESCO sold on an insider only web page? I bet not too many working class, scored those tickets.

So typical, you libdinks want to live with all the benefits offered in a free society but have always been unwilling to get your hands dirty and perform any of the heavy/nasty work it takes to attain or maintain one .. p.s. hey fuckwit, what is most revealing is the absence of any apology from Democraps like John Murtha or Johnny Kerry who build their political careers bashing troops with lies that you sheep eat up
dominicpodom (August 19, 2008 at 4:11 am)
How did he bash the troops? He tried repeadly to get those troops back to their families. If you had family in the war you would want them out of harm's way. But you can't see past your pathetic need to blindly follow a failed president. The fact that McCain did not speak out against the horrible conditions at Walter Reed and his refusal to support the GI bill tell me all I need to know: He values the troops when they are fighting but once they come home he doesn't give a damn about them.

You did not answer my question which tells me that your arguements are not based off of actual research. And try to refrain from lame personal attacks. Try to make it good next time.

LMAO ... the b-o-y wonder didn't set foot in Iraq for over 2 years (preferred to stay home and bash the troops from afar) and you think a 3-point free throw on the basketball court in some military gym in Iraq qualifies the first-term ultra-liberal senator from Illinois as presidential material ???? HAaahahahahahaahaaa you libdinks crack me the hell up !
