Ms. Vaughn was simply the best - imagine being able to just open your mouth and have that gorgeous instrument come out of it! I adored her as a child - a teen - a young adult - and now an adult. I miss her as well. She was the last of her kind - that's for sure. Thanks for posting this video - it's priceless!

what happens at 3:00. Does her mic go out or was the pianist supposed to sing and she messed up?

I'm sure. I was just speaking generally. Street level sort of thing. If you listen to the cars going by with their 1,000 watt sound systems. It still doesn't sound good, and you'll never hear Sarah Vaughan coming out of those earthquake vehicles.

Sarah and Phyllis Hyman were always my favorite vocalists focalists. Even Nancy Wilson said that these two female vocalists had the best instruments of any two women she knew. Unfortunately, Phyllis never got the recognition she deserved and ended up taking her own life. Special voice Sarah had. At least we have her voice recorded as I have Phyllis' voice recorded.

like the dinosaurs, singers like this are now extinct, such a pity, but then the young no longer posess the "ear" for music anymore, shouting out obnoxious slogans is now the rage they wouldn't know a great singer and tune if they tripped over one, good thing this is available, listen and weep you young ones |
