this is not how all african americans speak. some of us have standards and can speak properly. so yes this does happen to be racist in a sense that you cannot group a race by the actions of a few.

I think it was more that he was considered a "bad role model" (I'm not saying he was, I'm just saying that's what they thought). But both Sesame Street and Electric Company were very forward-thinking in their diversity.

My guess is that Franklin Delano Bluth was inspiried by Roosevelt, combined with a bit of Lester (of Willie Tyler and Lester fame).

Sesame Street was with RF, as with many things, ahead of its time. They were trying to use the character to teach AA kids not to be ashamed of stuff like AAVE (African-American Vernacular English), etc. And RF *encouraged* education (he was a teacher, after all), not discouraged, as I've seen commenters on other RF videos claim. *rolls eyes*
