"They Live", while thoroughly entertaining-- helped in no small measure by this scene--was kind of a let down. The movie starts out as a sort of darkly comic satire, but degenerates into cheezy action nonsense. I hope that Halloween and The Thing weren't flashes in the pan for Carpenter, and that he makes some more interesting and provocative movies.

When you put on the glasses you can see the truth. What's the truth you ask? Well you'll have to see the movie.Just kidding, but wouldn't that be a douchbag maneuver? hahaAnyhow, when you put the glasses on you see that aliens are among us and that they have subliminal messages everywhere. It's an entertaining movie, I suggest checking it out.

I can't find it on Youtube but some of the best lines in this movie were spoken when Piper confronted the two alien cops. Cop to Piper: Where'd you get those glasses? Piper: Tooth Fairy! Piper: (on seeing alien cop's real face} Nick yourself shaving this morning? Cop: You look as shitty to us as we do to you. Piper: (snorting with contempt)Impossible! True classic.
