That is indeed Tony Randall, he was a frequent guest panalist on What's My Line. He was also a guest on many, many TV shows -- and he had his own TV series called "The Odd Couple".

The line "Valley of the Dolls"...."I'm the only one who doesn't take pills".

Actually I agree with you! Trust me my comment is pro-Judy! I can get a little snappy at times in my comments. I was just trying to say that she was focused on her work and NOT her handwriting. Watched a wonderful doc on her life. She seriously wasn't given much time tho study the 3 R's but luckily had such innate intelligence.

As a lefthanded writer myself, I know how difficult it is to write on a board like that because we're used to positioning our hands with the side resting on the flat surface. When the surface is verticle you can make it look pretty, but it takes effort, effort she probably didn't think was important to take. She obviously didn't know people would be watching this footage forty years later to hunting out evidence of addiction and frailty in every step and mannerism.

I wasn't sure you were aware of the circumstances behind this appearance, 'Muller'...thanks.

Thanks for the background -- Gil Fates also tells that same story on another youtube clip that I posted -- "History of What's My Line?"

Gil Fates told the entire story of what happened backstage that night of March 5, 1967 before Judy appeared before the panel, LIVE, on camera, in his "What's My Line?" book. How she initially refused to leave her dressing room; and how Mark Goodson said to Fates, "No problem, I'll be the 'Mystery Guest'", with chalk in hand, ready to step out to the chalkboard before Judy suddenly sailed out on John Daly's cue...this was originally telecast in color, but only the black & white kinescope exists.
