Excellent recipe. Using regular white flour works just as well...very soft reminds me of grandamas..I'm gonna try wheat flour next...just to see if it works. Thank you for sharing.

wow, that's correct...that's how Hispanics make homemade tortillas down to the point where the first one never comes out just how you want it. it's always the first. most use lard instead of Crisco. and since we make them so fast we don't use gloves. great job! you and I make them exactly alike!so soft and fluffy looking. TIP: you have the ingredients right there for homemade biscuits too just add buttermilk.

if you don't have self rising flour then you will have to have 2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1 tsp. salt, 3/4 cups of water, and 1 Tbsp vegetable shortening or lard. Personally I would always keep the self rising flour on hand because it is so much easier, but you can make it this way as well.

not bad for an american!! you did it well..im mexican but that kind tortillas come from the north area of mexico...the south tortillas for me are the original mexico tortillas, because the metod to do it was make by the aztecs and were eaten for centuries after the spanish conquer...investigate in other sites about the quesadillas and memelas or picaditas...really the best dishes using tortilllas..try it!!!..srry for my english...is not good..TY

great job! I have been looking for a tortilla teacher for years.

I learned this easy trick from a dear friend of mine. You can also wrap your measuring cups as well for easy clean up.

Thanks! I find making tortillas this way is fairly easy. They are so good off the griddle with some bacon and cheese.
