Wonderful, this film brought me to tears. I feel in symbolism it answers the question. Although, this movie can be understood by each viewer in a different way.

No, the items belong to the lady in the film. He's eternally chasing her. She keeps leaving small "parts" or tokens of herself, until he final gets to her, in which they leave to oblivion in peace together, or something along those lines.

The objects he's gathering are, I'm assuming, items he owned that meant alot to him when he was alive. In the end he returns and leaves his body, symbolizing that he has "let go" of that previous life and is ready to move on.

Not at all. This was an assignment in Grade 12 Film Class. We had to knowledge of Cohen before this project. There were are about four groups and they all filmed very different stories.
