DAMN.....this is a smokin' piano solo here! This guy has that continuous fresh mind that most musicians are afraid of.He is one of those pianists who give me the reasons to listen to Jazz!In all honesty i have to say that i have never heard of George Cables; I love Jazz so much and have never been aware of this great man. I feel like a damn fool...a damn fool!I am not dissing the other keyboardists...George just has the 'voices' that i like.

The movie was indeed "Round Midnight". The main character was a combination of both Dexter Gordon and Bud Powell. Dexter was nominated for an academy award for best actor in 1987. I met Dexter on black Monday in October of '87 at an event for The Louis Armstrong Residence. I love Dexter Gordon.....Charles

Dexter's 4tet with pianist George Cables, bassist Rufus Reid, but not sure of the drummer nor the venue. |
