Percy Shrubb's debut sci-fi epic is an ambitious exploration of big themes, sadly undermined by interference from the studio. What could have been a precursor to Tarkovsky's 'Solaris' and Kubrick's '2001' often ends up resembling a Farrelly Brother's gross-out comedy. In space. By the denouement any concepts such as man's mortality and the nature of God have been dropped in favour of fart gags and very dated sexism. An interesting experiment, but one for fan's only. There are nods to Shrubb's mentor (and founder of Wrong Films) Carson A. Hitler (no relation), and many have argued that Hitler may have had a bigger role in the film than he is credited for. Look out for a cameo from Hattie Jacques.
