The fact is that most of the time spanking isn't necessary. When I was growing up I got spanked a few times with switches (remember those?) and from then on all it took was a look from my mother. That look told me what COULD be coming and that's all it took.

Yeah, I'm still a firm believer in spanking. The rule is, that a parent can still punish a child in any way they see fit, as long as it isn't to an extreme, but people's idea of what how far THAT is differs, which is why so many teenagers are screwed up. Kids DO get away with too much.

Maybe not so much the kids as the parents who let them say and act any way they want. For some reason kids in the 50's and early 60's had manners and respected their parents. Must've been the fear of spanking? Now they threaten to call 911.
